Last week we said goodbye to my husband's 95 year old grandma. It was sad, but she lived a good life and moved on to a better place. The funeral experience, though, got me thinking about the lessons we can learn.
In life, Lillian
- Arrived into a world of opportunities and possibilities
- Walked by faith
- Loved and served others, including her husband of over 50 years, three children, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and the residents and staff of two different assisted living / nursing home facilities
- Wore contagious smiles and laughter
- Seized every day - for example, a helicopter ride at age 80 and being crowned Queen of her assisted living home (complete with a parade appearance in a convertible)
We should all be so fortunate to live 95 full years. But if we're not living life to the fullest like Lillian, we'd better get started today.
