Lessons on Life, Death, and F.A.I.T.H.

Last week we said goodbye to my husband's 95 year old grandma. It was sad, but she lived a good life and moved on to a better place. The funeral experience, though, got me thinking about the lessons we can learn.

In life, Lillian

  • Arrived into a world of opportunities and possibilities
  • Walked by faith
  • Loved and served others, including her husband of over 50 years, three children, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and the residents and staff of two different assisted living / nursing home facilities
  • Wore contagious smiles and laughter
  • Seized every day - for example, a helicopter ride at age 80 and being crowned Queen of her assisted living home (complete with a parade appearance in a convertible)
In death, Lillian was remembered for all of the above. The priest even commended her for living in F.A.I.T.H. (fully alive in the holy.)

We should all be so fortunate to live 95 full years. But if we're not living life to the fullest like Lillian, we'd better get started today.
