If you're still with us (ha ha), you know that Harold Camping caused quite a buzz this week on Twitter, Facebook, and various news programs. His May 21, 2011 rapture prediction, although sincere, proved to be inaccurate (as most of us who anticipate the rapture agree that no one knows the day or the hour it will happen.) So I pray for Mr. Camping - that his life, and the worldwide discussion he started on life, death, and faith in Jesus, will bear fruit despite his fuzzy math.
I think this quote on expectation from Henri Nouwen puts things into perspective as we continue on in the days ahead...
The paradox of expectation indeed is that those who believe in tomorrow can better live today, that those who expect joy to come out of sadness can discover the beginnings of a new life in the center of the old, that those who look forward to the returning Lord can discover Him already in their midst.
Prayers & blessings,

It was a lot of fun reading the craziness his predictions brought forth.

Great post! Very glad to have found your blog through ICLW!
All the best!
We went from Blondie (Rapture) and REM (End of the World) to Elton John (I'm Still Standing) in just few short hours.
Happy ICLW!

Here for ICLW. I've been worried about Camping and his followers, too, hoping that they can find some peace now that the rapture didn't quite play out the way they thought. I found all the jokes and such amusing, but then I remembered that there were some real people who must be honestly heartbroken to find themselves here on Earth after 6pm last night. Yikes. Hope they're well. Love the quote you offered!
Returning your comment from ICLW~ Ditto Lori. Since no man is supposed to be able to predict Rapture, the first day advertised is the last I'd ever actually believe. I do kind-of feel for the people who worked themselves up in the fervor, though!
