The Best Medicine

Laughter has been called the best medicine, and lately I've needed it. So I borrowed the book Cake Wrecks: When Professional Cakes Go Hilariously Wrong from our local library.

According to author Jen Yates, a cake wreck is:
"Any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places."
And, let me tell ya, she found funny. These are not the cakes we see on Ace of Cakes or Cake Boss!

Here are a few of my personal favs:
  • "Pumkin Fun" (note misspelling) with an aerial view of two pumpkins that resemble a woman's chest
  •  Naked mohawk baby carrot jockeys
  •  And, of course, the cover cake that includes "Under Neat that" as part of the sentiment
I hope you enjoyed today's dose of humor. For more cake fun, visit cakewrecks.blogspot.com.
