Bookworm Wednesday: The Sabbatical Pile

Bookworm Wednesday celebrates the written word, whether it's new-to-the-nightstand, an exciting e-book, or a timeless title.

Everyone has a security blanket. Be it a relationship, a financial investment, or a favorite bear, we like to feel reassured. If I had to confess, books provide me with a sense of comfort and protection, not far behind my faith.

I've never been a cover-to-cover kind of girl (it's safe to bet that I don't read much fiction.) I rarely focus on one book or even one topic at a time. Instead, I create several piles around themes or projects. I'll collect books from the library, second-hand stores, bookstores and even websites hoping that whether I need the information contained inside now or in the future, it's just a pile and page turn away.

For my first Bookworm Wednesday post, I'd like to discuss what I'm affectionately calling my "sabbatical pile." These are the books I'm turning to for direction and inspiration during my current summer sabbatical. These include: [note: most are affiliate links]

The Cause within You: Finding the One Great Thing You Were Created to Do in This World
Creating Your Personal Life Plan (a free download when you sign up for Michael Hyatt's e-newsletter)
Invitations from God: Accepting God's Offer to Rest, Weep, Forgive, Wait, Remember and More
Praying in Color: Drawing a New Path to God (Active Prayer Series)
Unlimited: How to Build an Exceptional Life
The War of Art: Break Through the Blocks and Win Your Inner Creative Battles

Each of these titles have enhanced my sabbatical experience in some way as I search for clarity and purpose in regards to my goals. Which books have you enjoyed or found helpful recently? Leave a comment below. Coming this fall, I hope to offer Bookworm Wednesday as a blog carnival where we can post, link, and comment together.

Happy reading,
