A Mother's Day Shopping List

Unless you've been visiting another planet, you're probably familiar with the holiday that's sandwiched between Easter bunnies and Memorial Day parades. Yes, that's right... Mother's Day! Of course, as a mom, I'd like every day to be Mother's Day (sigh.) But since that's not realistic, I feel somewhat pressured to cram a year's worth of love and gratitude into meaningful cards and gifts for the moms in my life. With that in mind, I came up with three types of moms I know and gift ideas for each (with a little help from Shutterfly.)

1) The "Oh, you don't have to get me anything" Mom type
Have you met her? She's the mom who says you didn't have to, but you knew you'd better anyhow. It's perhaps the only time we get away with not listening to our mothers. Choose a thoughtful item like a custom mug or other personalized gift to show you didn't stop at the gas station mini-mart on the way there.

2) The "handmade gifts are the best" Mom type
This category of mothers proclaim that seeing is believing. But what do you do if you're short on time or not uber-crafty?A photobook is the best of both worlds. It's a homemade project ordered online just for mom without the glue, scissors, or glitter mess. So everyone wins!

3) The "After all I've done for you, the least you could do is buy me a gushy card" Mom type
This mom type may be difficult, but score some points with a personalized photo greeting card. She wants thoughtful. You want easy. Include favorite photos and personal sentiments to show your appreciation for all she's done.

No matter the type, please show the deserving moms in your life some love this Mother's Day!
